6 Free Ways To Reignite Your Marketing Plan When Money is Tight

Marketing doesn't have to cost you a fortune.

It’s a common misconception that, to successfully market your business, you need to have a huge budget. But, with costs going through the roof and marketing budgets being slashed, what worked for you before may not be an option any more.

Generating leads and staying on your customers radars is any marketer's top priority. So, what if I told you that there were loads of scalable marketing activities you could be doing each month, for free, that take less than an hour each week to implement?
My top suggestions include…
  1. Writing a blog or even recycling one from your archive. Blogging is a great way to start attracting people to your website for free (you can read more about how content attracts people to your website here). If you have lots of older blogs on your website which are still relevant but aren’t getting much traffic any more, give them a refresh. As long as the content is still relevant, republishing 1 older blog per month could save you loads of time. A new image or tweak to the headline or call to action might be all it takes to give an old blog a new lease of life.
  2. Host a Facebook Live. If you’re more confident speaking than writing, going live on your Facebook page, or in your group if you have one, once a month could be a good alternative to writing a monthly blog. It doesn't have to be a webinar or long video, but showing up consistently can help you stay front of mind for your ideal customer.
  3. Apply for business awards in and around your industry or niche. These are always great PR opportunities and you know what they say, you’ve got to be in it to win it!
  4. Keep your Google My Business account up to date. People often forget about Google My Business once it’s live, but this online profile is a valuable tool for local SEO. This means that all your information needs to be up to date and regularly maintained. Spending 1 hour a month reviewing this can have a huge impact on your organic traffic.
  5. Spend 1 hour per week connecting with new leads on LinkedIn. If you know that your ideal customer is going to get real value from what you offer, what’s stopping you from striking up a conversation with them? A lot of people are wary of outbound marketing because of bad experiences they’ve had in the past with pushy sales messages and empty promises. However, if it’s done right, outbound marketing should feel like starting a conversation to see whether there is an opportunity for mutual benefit.
  6. Ask your existing customers for reviews or testimonials. When was the last time you bought something without reading the reviews first? Asking your customers for reviews and testimonials is a powerful way to build trust in your brand, so following up with clients who haven’t left you a review yet would make a great addition to your rolling plan. These reviews can then be used in social media posts and added to your website to build trust.

No business is the same though, so if you’d like help identifying which marketing activities are going to have the biggest impact on your sales, book a free clarity call with us today so we can help you get clear on the best next steps for you and your business.
